About the position
As Manager, Public Affairs, you will contribute to driving our public and government affairs and strategic partnership efforts with end user governments and prime contractors in Denmark, Europe and beyond. You will work closely with key internal stakeholders, including our Board, CEO, Vice President for Strategy & Transformation, and Head of Public Affairs to shape our public and government affairs and strategic defence partnerships and efforts. The role is pivotal in both building and maintaining close relationships with key end users and identifying new commercial opportunities, in particular through offset.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the rest of the Weibel Public Affairs team, the Strategy team and our commercial business units on public affairs, business opportunities, and commercial strategy
- Collaborating with the Weibel Scientific, Leadership Team, our CEO and our commercial business units to identify, negotiate and implement new commercial and strategic opportunities, including through offset agreements
- Working closely with relevant Danish authorities across levels of government, from municipalities to ministries and agencies
- Maintaining close relationships with relevant international organizations, incl. NATO and the EU
- Responsible for the preparation and executions of strategic initiatives related to select countries
- Preparing and executing visits of government and strategic partner delegations
- Preparing documents and practicalities for meetings with external stakeholders
- Developing and maintaining relationships with global strategic end users, including ministries of defence and acquisition organisations
You will report to our Head of Public Affairs and form part of the broader Strategy and Transformation VP area. Our team is a recently established function, so you will be a part of defining how we approach strategic partnerships, public affairs, and continuously updating our Weibel commercial strategy.
About you
The ideal candidate has 2 years of relevant experience (permanent positions and/or internships) from a Nordic Ministry of Defence, a Defence Procurement Agency, or a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (e.g., Danish Trade Council or Embassy Defence Attaché Office), and/or a major European or North American defence contractor or defence-focused strategy consultancy. You have commercial acumen and a deep interest in the defence industry and the geopolitical realm. You are self-motivated with a high drive, and you take on responsibility and execute efficiently. Furthermore, it is important that you are comfortable working with colleagues from across the organization and beyond, including presenting to and problem-solving with senior stakeholders.
Your resume includes:
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to lead new initiatives.
- A solid understanding of and access to the Danish stakeholder landscape within security and defence.
- Experience with EU and NATO policies in relation to security and defence.
- Commercial acumen and a forward-looking and strategic mindset.
- English and either Danish, Norwegian or Swedish language proficiency is mandatory.
