Jobbeskrivelse

Jobbeskrivelse

Join the Future of Secure Communication – Build a Quantum Communication Infrastructure! Are you passionate about cutting-edge technology and secure communication? We are seeking an engineer to help shape the future of quantum communication in Denmark and across borders. You will be part of the national initiative QCI.DK, which is Denmark’s contribution to the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) – a visionary program launched by the European Commission to build a secure pan-European quantum communication network.

EuroQCI aims to establish a highly secure and resilient quantum communication infrastructure across the EU, integrating quantum key distribution (QKD) technologies with existing communication networks. The initiative supports national QCI projects like QCI.DK, while also enabling cross-border connections to ensure secure data exchange between member states. EuroQCI is a cornerstone of Europe’s digital sovereignty and cybersecurity strategy, and you will be at the heart of its implementation.

The job

Your responsibility will be to design, procure, test and implement the Danish national and cross-border quantum communication infrastructure.

  • Design all layers of the quantum communication infrastructure network, i.e. the quantum, key management, secure application and management networks
  • Develop network domains for cross-border networks with parties in Sweden and Poland
  • Procure quantum key distribution and network equipment
  • Test equipment in the lab
  • Make deployment plans for the national and cross-border networks
  • Deploy the national QCI network
  • Work closely with colleagues from DEIC (deic.dk) for deployment
  • Contribute to reporting towards the EC.

Our expectations of you

You are open to learn new things and enjoy working in international and interdisciplinary teams. You should have a background in some of the following areas:

  • Quantum Key Distribution Network architecture and design
  • Experience with designing scalable and secure quantum key distribution network topologies, including multi-domain and cross-border configurations.
  • Ethernet network architecture and design
  • Understanding of Ethernet-based infrastructure and its integration with quantum communication systems.
  • Cryptography and secure communication protocols
  • Knowledge of classical and quantum-safe cryptographic methods, including integration with QKD.
  • Operation of quantum key distribution systems
  • Experience in configuring and operating QKD systems in lab and field environments.
  • Ethernet network configurations including routers
  • Experience with configuring Ethernet networks, clients, routers, etc
  • System integration and testing
  • Skills in integrating hardware and software components and conducting performance and interoperability tests.
  • Linux system administration and scripting
  • Useful for configuring network devices, automating testing, and managing infrastructure.
  • Experience in deploying quantum key distribution networks
  • Hands-on experience with planning and executing QKD network deployments.
