To support our ongoing development activities within Group Procurement, we are looking for a skilled Packaging Engineer to take end-to-end responsibility for technical packaging development across our confectionery portfolio (maternity cover).
About the job
As Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical development and optimization of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions across our confectionery portfolio.
You will ensure that packaging designs are structurally robust, compliant, cost-efficient, and capable of performing throughout the entire value chain – from production and packing lines to transportation, shelf display, and consumer use.
The role requires a strong technical understanding of packaging materials, structural design, production processes, and supply chain interfaces. You will translate product and business requirements into robust, compliant packaging specifications that support quality, efficiency, and sustainability objectives.
Your role
You will have end-to-end responsibility for your packaging projects and a high degree of flexibility and self-management.
You will work closely with Product Development, Marketing, Manufacturing, and external suppliers to align packaging solutions with business objectives and product specifications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing structural packaging designs and Bills of Materials in New Product Development projects
- Designing packaging solutions that ensure product protection, functionality, and performance throughout the supply chain
- Managing prototyping, testing, and supplier collaboration to validate technical feasibility
- Maintaining technical documentation and specifications (drawings, TDS, DoC) and establishing packaging standards and packing instructions
- Handling packaging briefs, approvals, and technical alignment with external partners
- Troubleshooting packaging-related issues in materials and production processes
- Driving cost optimization and sustainability initiatives without compromising product quality or compliance
- Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, labeling requirements, and relevant standards
- Monitoring packaging trends and technological developments to support continuous improvement
About you
You are a structured and analytical packaging professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality solutions. You enjoy coordinating across stakeholders and maintaining structure and overview in a fast-paced environment.
Your qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or similar
- Preferably 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Experience within packaging and/or FMCG is an advantage
- Strong analytical and systematic mindset
- Ability to manage multiple project tasks and deadlines
- High attention to detail and quality
- Proactive and self-motivated approach
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Professional proficiency in Danish and English (written and spoken)
- Travel activity is limited (approx. 2–4 days per year).
