IT Data Engineer (1 Year – Maternity Cover)

Then you may be the right fit for our IT team at Symphogen.

We are looking for a Data Engineer for a 1-year maternity cover, where you will work closely with our full-time Data Engineer to develop and maintain our data foundation. You will be part of a small but strong IT team that collaborates closely with researchers and colleagues across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

• Organize and structure raw data in Azure Databricks
• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines
• Maintain and ensure quality of datasets
• Develop algorithms, prototypes, and automated workflows
• Extract, transform, and load data from various sources
• Integrate data transfers between internal and external systems

As we are a small department, we expect you to take broad responsibility in the development and maintenance of our data foundation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant educational background within IT, software development
• 2–5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related role
• Strong programming skills (Python, SQL – preferably also SCALA)
• Experience with data modelling, data querying, and ETL processes
• Practical experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure (Azure DevOps, Azure SaaS, etc.)

It is considered an advantage if you also have experience with:

• Azure Databricks in a production setup
• Automation and CI/CD for data pipelines
• Cross-functional collaboration in research or development environments
