Web Application Engineer - DTU Food
Jobbeskrivelse
Jobbeskrivelse
Infectious diseases are one of the biggest threats to human and animal health. To combat this threat, we need to improve our global detection, analyses and sharing of infectious disease data. At the Technical University of Denmark, we are creating online solutions for real time sharing and analyses of genomic data for all bacteria and viruses across the globe.
If you want to contribute to making a global difference, we are looking for an application engineer for our online data storage, sharing, and compute platform at the Research Group for Genomic Epidemiology at the DTU National Food Institute. We are currently developing a massive web application for users world-wide to store and share their sequencing data as well as running bioinformatics pipelines to analyse and visualize their data and we would like to expand our team with a role that combines software development, systems integration, and application design in order to ensure robustness, scalability and user-friendliness.
Responsibilities and qualifications
You should be passionate about software development and supporting IT production systems. You will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing key features, both in the backend and in the front end.
- Integrating applications with databases, APIs and third-party services.
- Diagnosing, debugging, and resolving problems in a production environment.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Training and managing part-time (student worker) developers.
We expect expertise or, at least, knowledge of the following technologies:
- Linux and Python (Django)
- JavaScript/TypeScript and React
- SQL
- Docker
Knowledge of bioinformatics is preferable but not warranted.
Our expectations of you
We expect that you are independent, problem-solving oriented, and willing to learn. A master’s degree (or higher) in a STEM field is required. Although your role offers a large degree of flexibility, regular in-person collaboration with your team will be an essential part of your work. Given the complexity of the project, such close interaction is vital to achieving the best outcomes.
What we offer in return
DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for the excellence of its research, education, innovation and scientific advice. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment. We strive for academic excellence in an environment characterized by collegial respect and academic freedom tempered by responsibility.
