Internship & thesis at IFF (Spring 2026)

Are you a current student looking for an internship on specialty ingredients, bioscience and microbiome research? We are looking for both Bachelor’s and Master’s level students primarily from the fields of bioscience and -chemistry to join IFF for a collaborative internship at our Brabrand Innovation Center! In addition to ongoing studies at a relevant field, we look for interest and possible prior hands-on experience in the development of new Food, Feed or Healthy ingredients.
IFF is a global leading company in Food & Flavor Science, Biotechnology & Microbiome research. The IFF site in Brabrand is one of IFF’s Top 3 Global Innovation hubs with more than 250 Scientists working within specialty ingredients, bioscience and microbiome research. The aim is to create the future of innovative food & beverage experiences through the development of products that deliver safe, healthy and sustainable solutions for customers around the world.
We have projects in both our R&D and Applications departments where different research areas are covered, employing state-of-the-art technologies.
We expect that you as an Intern, Bachelor’s, or Master’s level student are curious and eager to learn while applying your knowledge in to practice! If you are interested, please send us your resume, grades and the extent of ECTS your internship/thesis should cover, and a cover letter explaining a little about yourself and your motivation to do a project or internship with IFF. Please indicate in your application your preferred time of internship (eg. Spring 2026 or Autumn 2026).
We have projects in the following areas:
- Biochemistry and application of enzymes in Food and Feed
- Understanding of host-microbe interaction for Animal Health application
- Development of new functional ingredients such as hydrocolloids and emulsifiers
- Discovery of bioactive molecules
- Process development for food ingredients
- Laboratory and process automation
- Fermentation technology with food relevance
- Bakery, Culinary, Plant-based, Dairy Application
- Sensory science
- Advanced biochemical analysis covering from ingredients to human health
- Physical characterization of food systems and ingredients
- Data science modeling to generate business insights from scientific or production data
- Cell molecular biology or synthetic biology
- Food Safety and applied Food microbiology

Your application will be shared with relevant supervisors in the organization, and they will go through the applications on an on-going basis and invite you to an interview if we find a match. Our scientists at Brabrand Innovation Center have vast experience in supervision of students, covering students from intern- to PhD-level.
The internship will be unpaid.
